Book Review

I just finished reading Great Day Every Day from Max Lucado thanks to BookSneeze. It reads very easily and is a common style for any Max Lucado reader. The chapters flow well and some even seem to read as a daily devotional that you could go back to. We all face trials in life. Simple things from kids misbehaving, to losing a job, to a spouse with cancer. Every day we have reason to complain...or do we? .

Everyday can be a good day despite all the ill that is happening around us. We have a good God that allows things in our life for reasons beyond our understanding. We can rejoice and be glad in this day today! Lucado does a good job at explaining this in a straight forward manner.

I did feel, however, that Lucado did not go deep enough in explaining why God allows certain events to come into our life in the first place. I was hoping he would discuss this so people are not left feeling that every day should be great in their life. Tragedy occurs...what do we do with that as Christians? Every day will not be a great day but we do have a great God! Amen.

BOOK GIVEAWAY

Here's a way to save some money- get a free book! Now through May 6th at midnight you can enter my giveaway for my book, Don't Waste Your Pain-keeping your faith in the midst of chronic pain

Pain and suffering are no strangers to humankind, and their existence is well documented in the Bible. God doesn’t promise that you won’t suffer, but He does promise you won’t suffer alone; He will be with you. In Don’t Waste Your Pain, author Myndi Orr describes her journey with chronic pain to show that God has a purpose in our lives through pain.
For more than six years, Myndi Orr has battled trigeminal neuralgia, which has left her with severe facial pain. In this inspirational book, she explains how her relationship with God has helped her see beyond the pain, teaching her to focus on Him and show others Christ’s love.
Through an array of Bible scriptures, Don’t Waste Your Pain shares the lessons Myndi has learned through her struggle with pain. It communicates that life is not about us, but rather about God and his plan and purpose for our lives.

Review of MOMENTS OF TRUTH by John MacArthur

John MacArthur does a great job shining through moments of Truth for us to nibble on each day. I love that he has broken up each month into themes we need to hear about. He starts with Truth as his theme and each day talks about the Sovereignty of God and what Truth means in the Bible. Each devotion is from a book that MacArthur has written. Each sliver of truth has scripture we can learn and apply in our life. Each day ends with a question to ponder. I felt it was helpful to really meditate over each Bible verse and then the question that it asked me. What was I going to do each day about that specific thing. For example, one day He asks us how will it change our perspective to know that Salvation is dependent solely on God and none from ourselves. This may seem like a no brainer to most but to sit and really think through what this entails is a great benefit. You may find as you go through this devotion that you are digging in the Bible more and more. I highly suggest this devotion, especially to those that may use a devotion such as the Daily Bread or something like this. This devotion goes into much more depth. Thanks to booksneeze for providing this book for me to give an honest review about.
