What are ECBs?
ECBs stand for Extra Care Bucks! Basically, these are CVS dollars you earn for buying certain items and can spend at CVS. Your ECBs print on your receipt. ECBs expire 1 month from when you received them.
You will need to sign up for an Extra Care Card at CVS. You can do this in store and it just takes a second.
Below are 2 very basic and simple deal scenarios to get you started thinking.
Deal Scenario #1
Aussie Styler $2.99, Get $2 ECB's (limit 1)
Buy 1 Aussie Styler = $2.99
Use $1/1 Aussie Product Coupon from February 14th Red Plum insert (2/14 RP)
Pay: $1.99
Get Back $2 ECBs on your receipt to use later
Final Cost: FREE
Deal Scenario #2
Colgate Total Advance $2.99, Get $2 ECBs (limit 1)
Buy 1 Colgate Total Advance = $2.99
Use $1/1 Colgate Total Coupon from 1/24 Smart Source Insert (1/24 SS)
Use your $2 ECB from the first scenario and now you pay nothing OOP (out of pocket)
Get Back $2 ECBs on your receipt to use later
Final Cost: FREE + you made $2 :)
I would recommend saving your ECBs that you earn this week to use on next week's deal scenarios. This is what we call "rolling" your ECBs. By using your ECBs to buy more items that also earn you ECBs you will pay very little out of pocket. And soon, you will be paying with ECBs instead of your cash! And that is our goal!
This is a very basic form of how to shop. Once you get the hang of it you will want to make sure you use coupons in a certain order. First make sure you hand over
the $3/15 coupon first if you have one...
then a CVS coupon
then a manufacturer coupon in that order
and finally your ECB
You never want to yuse an ECB when you can get it for free using your coupons without one!!!
